Unknown-ness: Never Heard of Ram Jam, but it looks like a Prog concept album, or maybe something like the previously covered album Malo.

Album Review: The album sounds like a conglomerate of all the sounds of the early 70's hard rock. A little metal, a little southern, bluesy rock, and some progressive jams, the album is to music what clipart is to drawing. Interestingly enough is that the record was produced by thee bublegum pop duo of the late 60's Kasenetz-Katz. They regrouped with one of their former band's members: the lemon pipers Bill Bartlett to make this album to fit the next era of music popularity, even if it was a little late after the sounds had long been established. Definite hints of Hendrix, Sabbath and Stones throughout the album. I have heard their cover of Leadbelly's (only by attribute: the song existed his '39 recording) "Black Betty," which wikipedia says was actually recorded by Bartlett's former band Starstruck, with him being the only Ram Jam member on the recording. It takes the original 59 second song and makes it their own, but included lyrical backlash from the NAACP and Congress of Racial Equality. "Too Bad On Your Birthday" borrows the melody of CCR's Proud Mary, and is touted as a T Rex style parody. The band recorded 2 albums with this lineup, and K+K revived the band for a third album in the 90's.

Stand Out Track: Black Betty
